How Firearm Transfers Work
Buying a firearm online is simple — but it must be shipped to a licensed dealer. Here’s exactly how the process works.

Choose a licensed dealer near you to receive your firearm.
- We Ship It
Your firearm is shipped to your selected dealer.
- Background Check
Fill out paperwork, pass background check, and take possession.
- Important Information
• Firearms cannot be shipped directly to your home
• A valid government-issued ID matching your billing address is required
• P.O. Boxes cannot be used for firearm purchases
• You must confirm your chosen FFL dealer will accept the transfer
• Transfer fees may apply and are paid at pickup
• Some states may require waiting periods

NFA Item Transfers
WaterDawg Outdoors makes every effort to simplify the transfer of NFA items, but your participation is required.
The process may include:
• Submission of required documentation
• Smartphone app usage
• Fingerprinting
• In-person verification
You will be contacted when your item arrives.
You must begin the transfer process within 5 days of arrival.
Failure to do so may result in storage fees.
After Delivery
If your firearm is shipped to a dealer, contact them to confirm it is ready for pickup.
Processing times may vary by dealer.
Please allow time for check-in and verification before pickup.
Storage Policy
• Day firearm arrives = Day 1
• Pickup expected within 5 days
• $5/day storage fee begins on Day 6
After 60 days, firearms may be considered abandoned.
WaterDawg Outdoors reserves the right to sell abandoned firearms to recover expenses.
Inspect Before Transfer
Inspect your firearm thoroughly BEFORE completing the transfer.
Once the transfer is completed:
• The firearm is legally yours
• It cannot be returned through the dealer
If you notice any issues:
• Do NOT complete the transfer
• Contact us immediately before leaving the dealer
Legal Responsibility
It is your responsibility to:
• Know and comply with all local, state, and federal firearm laws
• Ensure you are legally eligible to receive a firearm
• Confirm your chosen FFL dealer will complete your transfer
You are responsible for any transfer fees charged by your dealer.
If Transfer Cannot Be Completed
If you are unable to complete the transfer:
• You must arrange return shipping
• A prepaid shipping label is required
• Return shipping costs will be deducted from any refund
• Transfer fees are non-refundable
Important Notice
Once a firearm transfer is completed, the firearm cannot be returned.
All sales are final after transfer.
